BUILDING TOGETHER
Spearheaded by impact investor and social entrepreneur Ruben Vardanyan, the new church under construction in Dilijan will serve as both a spiritual center and a symbol of cultural renewal. It will play a vital role in the town’s evolving communal, cultural and educational landscape.
Designed, pro bono, by Maxim Atayants, and funded through philanthropic contributions, the church building, fixtures, and associated assets will be owned by the Armenian Church and fall under its canonical and pastoral jurisdiction.
While the Dilijan region is home to many historic churches and monasteries, the city itself has lacked a dedicated spiritual center for over half a century. Currently, an active congregation gathers for services within the Old Dilijan Hotel Complex. The new church will be a significant addition to Dilijan’s cultural and spiritual life.
Located along the banks of the Aghstev River, the church is an integral part of the city-center urban renewal program. In addition to serving the communal needs of Dilijan’s 19,000 residents, it will contribute to the beautification of the riverbank, enhancing pedestrian-friendly, forested areas, which are a hallmark of the unique resort town.
